Although a solo work, this 25 minute suite is very much intended as part of the Placement catalogue, exploring as it does the landscape of small discoveries...
A mini album, Very Small Science started life as a single track that refused to fit where it was intended, so it was reluctantly set aside until one day it popped up again at the top of the 'works in progress pile'.
There's no real logic behind why a thing can seem impossible one day and yet flow into multiple variations and possibilities the next, but this is exactly what happened here - with track after track simply suggesting themselves and coming to realization in a very short space of time. All the keys seemed tucked away in that one initial recording (the first included here) and the resulting variations can be thought of as expanded elements, or studies into different aspects of the original.
Anyway up until this point, I've never actually released any solo music before - perhaps because, I've never really been totally sure that anything was properly finished. Well in this case I'm sure... At least, I think I am! I hope you like it.
